'Crazy Heart' Oscar winner Jeff Bridges steps into John Wayne's boots as alcoholic U.S. Marshal Rooster Cogburn in this gritty take on the 1968 Charles Portis novel, a role that earned Wayne an Academy Award. Matt Damon co-stars as a Texas ranger who teams up with Cogburn to help a stubborn 14-year-old girl (newcomer Hailee Steinfeld) track down her father's killer.
The film marks Bridges' second collaboration with the always versatile Coen Brothers after the 1998 cult classic 'The Big Lebowski,' along with the return of 'No Country for Old Men' star Josh Brolin to the fold as deadly drifter Tom Chaney.
